A question for

A note

Hi Simon,

We wanted to reach out personally, not with a generic offer, but with something created specifically for GKR Karate.

Fifteen thousand leaflets went out last October, and since then we have been thinking about how to make the next round work harder. Four ideas built around individual halls rather than the region as a whole. Thirty seconds to see whether any of them are useful, with the detail underneath if you want it.

Four ideas for GKR Karate

Four leaflet distribution campaigns. The aim is to stop treating the region as one audience, build small local campaigns around individual halls, measure which produce trials, then put the money where it works.

Distribution · 2,500 per hall

01Start here

2,500 Homes Per Hall

“No parent drives past three halls to reach the fourth.”

Fifteen thousand spread across the region works out at a few hundred doors near each venue, which is not enough to be noticed anywhere. The same total volume, split into runs of 2,500 around individual halls, puts real weight inside a ten minute journey of the door. Start with the classes that have spare capacity.

  • A tight radius drawn around each training venue
  • Roughly a ten minute walk or drive, not the whole region
  • Halls with spare capacity prioritised over full ones
  • One venue, one class night and one instructor on the leaflet
Distribution · two fixed slots

Back-to-School Drops

“Parents sign children up in September and January.”

October is three weeks after the decision has already been made. A drop in the last week of August and the first week of January arrives while parents are actively looking for something to fill a weeknight, and it costs no more to deliver then than at any other time of year.

  • Late August and early January as the two fixed drops
  • Booked in advance so the delivery slots are held
  • A third run before Easter if the first two perform
  • Classes running fifty weeks a year as the reassurance
Distribution · coded by venue

03

Track Every Hall

“One round, no idea where it worked.”

Every venue gets its own QR code and landing page, so a scan tells us the hall it came from. After one round you stop guessing which areas respond, and the next round goes where the free trials were actually booked rather than where the map looked tidy.

  • A unique QR code per training venue
  • A landing page that books the free trial class
  • Trials counted by hall, not just in total
  • A one page report after each round
Distribution · short runs

04

Target Around Existing Students

“Children join clubs their friends are already in.”

The warmest cold audience you have is the neighbours of your current students. Take the postcodes off your own register and drop the streets around them, naming the local hall and the class night, so those families know that children a few doors away already train on a Tuesday.

  • Streets selected from your existing student postcodes
  • Local hall and class night named on the leaflet
  • Family and sibling rates as the reason to act now
  • Cheap enough to run between the two main drops
